The historic Volcano House Hotel, on the summit of the Kilauea Volcano caldera, is closed for renovations and is currently expected to re-open in approximately one year. Why not take this opportunity to stay in a different house, a private home - one that is specifically designed for a couple in order to enhance privacy, intimacy and romance.
Nestled in the Kilauea Forest Preserve and only one mile from the main entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Volcano Mist Cottage celebrates the natural life as a simple, rugged, handcrafted home designed with extraordinary attention to detail and constructed with great respect for the elemental Spirits present in Hawai'i: Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.
We offer premiere Volcano Village lodging, artfully fusing the qualities of a 5-Star luxury hotel villa, the romantic charm of a small inn or bed and breakfast, and the absolute privacy of a personal hideaway in the Hawaiian highlands.
Volcano Mist Cottage offers easy access to all of Mother Nature's adventures as well as to the shops and galleries of local artists, chef-owned restaurants, orchid growers and winemakers. Yet, we are also a peaceful and quiet sanctuary - a safe haven for those who seek to turn their backs on the world for a while. This 'House of Nature' is where you may enjoy the simple understated luxuries of space, tranquility, rest and privacy.

Welcome to Volcano Mist Cottage!
Thank you for thinking mauka [to the mountains] and considering us for your accommodations in Volcano Village. Born only a few years ago from inspiration and imagination, Volcano Mist Cottage has quickly and quietly become the favorite hideaway for honeymoon couples and others seeking a private sanctuary of superior quality and comfort, as well as for adventurers seeking the ultimate base camp from which to explore the Big Island.
It is our wish that you become so enamored with the Kilauea Forest Preserve, Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park and the beautiful highlands surrounding Volcano Village that you become a true "Friend of the Forest" and support one of the many organizations dedicated to preserving the Wao Akua ~ treasured lands.
We also hope you stay long enough to experience the aloha spirit of the area residents ~ artists, biologists, chefs, orchid growers, organic farmers, wine makers, wood workers, et al ~ who are our neighbors and who represent cottage industries in this unique little corner of the world.
If your stay is short, we invite you to return again soon.
